I have a iMac G4. I would like to keep using the 20 inch monitor. Is there any way to hook that up to a mac mini. I don't care if it renders my G4 useless. How to reuse imac g4 screen on mac mini?Sounds like your a smart man wanting to reuse parts. If your really into that stuff you should go PC. Nonetheless, it shouldn't be too hard. Take that bad SOB apart and locate the cable the monitor gets information from. Follow this cable to the motherboard. Locate the place the cable plugs into. Unplug and figure out what type of cable it is. (VGA, HDMI, ect) Take that outside the case and plug that into the mac mini. Possibly using the appropriate adapter. good luck sounds like a fun project. How to reuse imac g4 screen on mac mini? The cable uses a TMDS signal and there is no way to get the inverter to work with anything other than the iMac G4 motherboard. So its possible, but it requires significant rewiring. I've done it using a different monitor. See this link for details:
