I have a Sony Mini DV camcorder and a Dell PC. I have the USB ports and the faster IE?? (i think) cable and connections.
Is their a program that will work? How do I (and what do I need) to convert Mini DV to my DVD burner on my pc?The most important, a dvd burner drive, you cannot burn dvd without a dvd burner drive
a blank dvd disc, according to the dvd burner drive you need to know which kind of dvd disc you need to buy, dvd+r/dvd-r see the diffference between dvd+r and dvd -r http://www.dvdtopreviews.com/article/dif鈥?/a>

and dvd burner software, ordinary data dvd burner software will not help you create a video dvd. you need to use professional dvd creators. The best dvd burner software I think is wondershare video to dvd burner, it is good at burning dvd movies on dvd+r, dvd-r, dvd+rw, dvd-rw, etc. It enables you to create professional dvd movie without any skill required. You can customize everything including the title, menu, subtitle, audio track, etc.
You can have a look

if you don't like it, Here is a dvd burner software review, you can refer to this.

I use the firewire port on my Sony DV and open Final Cut Pro, and goto log and capture to import the footage. I make any editing changes I want (music, etc.) and then I Export to h264 (mpeg 4), and use iDVD to burn it.

Not sure which programs support DV log and capture on a PC however. How do I (and what do I need) to convert Mini DV to my DVD burner on my pc?Use a firewire cable (probably what you are referring to as IE). USB has too slow of a transfer rate to work with video from a mini DV camera because the video has to be captured in real time.

Connect the camcorder to your Dell. Turn it to VCR mode and a windows wizard will come up giving you the option to select a video capture program. You probably have Windows Movie Maker installed but I recommend using StashSpace.Com's free stashBox as it is simple and easy to use.

Click record on the video capture app, hit play on the camcorder and you are good to go. The video will be captured to a file on your computer in real time as it plays on the camcorder. StashSpace also has an easy burn to DVD option.|||You may use the best software I have seen AVS Video Tools. It can convert to/from all key format, upload video or DVD directly to key portables like iPod, Sony PSP, Archos, Zen Creative, and mobiles.

It can capture video from DV or webcams, TV tuners, DVB-T, DVB-S, transfer VHS tapes to DVD, remove commercials, edit video, copy and burn DVDs and video files: AVI (DivX, XviD, etc.), MP4, WMV, 3GP, 3G2, QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO, MPEG 1,2,4, MPG, DAT, VCD, SVCD, ASF, H.263, H.264, RM, DVR-MS.
