smart: i want to take a mini-vacation somewhere in california for my boyfriend's birthday in December. My options are around morro bay/pismo or around los angeles.. I haven't lived here long so i don't know where to go. i want to stay in a hotel preferably on or right next to a beach and something that's not too expensive for the weekend. Any suggestions on nice romantic places or ideas for the weekend?Where is a good romantic place for a mini vacation in cali?Hmmm well if you want to be in a town near a beach San Clemente is a pretty quiet town. There are a lot of hotels right on the beach, and the street Del Mar (Downtown SC) has shopping, food, and clubs. otherwise downtown san diego is a nice place to vivist. theres lots to do down there. but if you're willing to drive a while (away from the beach) Palm Springs area is beautiful!! I love Palm Desert and its romantic resorts. Or if youd prefer snow, Big Bear is a cute mountain town!|||plenty of reasonable hotels near playa del rey. and the view of the surrounding coastline is exquisite. Where is a good romantic place for a mini vacation in cali?Santa Barbara or La Jolla would be very nice beachy locations for weekend trip. They are both gorgeous and on the beach. If it doesn't have to be beach, I also recommend Solvang for nice little weekend getaway. This adorable and quaint Danish village is so romantic and beautiful especially in December with all the holiday decorations. Hotel prices could be high on the beach and around holoidays though. If you mean California, a day driving up the coast to Morro Bay would be quite scenic. You could enjoy a great seafood dinner in one of the many restaurants overlooking Morro Rock in the Bay. May I suggest a reservation around sunset. Remember that ocean view property is prime real estate, so beach front accommodations are not going to be "cheap", but you should be able to find places that are reasonably affordable. Don't forget to take a wine tasting tour at some of the many wineries along the way.Where is a good romantic place for a mini vacation in cali?I don't think theres any romantic places in Cali, Colombia, South America. But if you are reffering to California, Morro Bay is a great place to visit! You can also head up north to San Simeon to visit Hearst Castle and when you're done, you can head off to the coast of San Simeon and see the sea lions ^_^! There are also many nice restaurants by the beach in Morro Bay, and a places to walk around. It's also less crowded (my favorite reason!) Plus, Morro Bay and Pismo Beach are about an hours drive away, so if you feel like heading down to Pismo (where I live), that's also a great option! Pismo also has lots of nice restaurants you can go to and also lots of nice hotels (remember ocean front hotels DO NOT come cheap, so if you can't afford ocean front hotels, there are affordable ones away from the ocean, but close enough to it.) Pismo also has a shopping center if you are into shopping. Good luck!|||Pismo is very nice. Actually, we found a great B&B in Carpinteria called Prufrock's Garden Inn. We love it there. As much as we love Prufrock's, we found an even better place in Pacific Grove, by Monterey, called the Gosby House Inn. MUCH better than a hotel. Green Gables Inn is right on the ocean, if you're interested.|||Morro Bay/Pismo Beach puts you in the central coast area, which puts you near the central coast wine country featured in the movie "Sideways." Morro Bay and the Pismo Beach area are very scenic,it's a nice area. However...hate to dampen the romance (literally), but in December you can have some very cold, wet weather there. Very unromantic. If you want to have options for things to do if the weather is cold and rainy, or cold and windy, you probably want to choose somewhere around LA because there are options there that you can do indoors.
