I just aquired a new family additon he is a mini dauchaund age 1 year and my kitten is about 4 months old and they hate each other how do I prevent fights?How do I get my mini doxi to like my cat?keep them separate, if he's already a year old and has aquired the hate for cats it will be hard for him to get to like them, he may seriously harm the kitten or may even kill him, i wouldnt risk it also dachshunds are known to harass small animals such as cats, they were bred to hunt for badgers and such and go into the tunnels that rodents had dug. i would talk to the vet about how to approach the situation, maybe have the dog or cat in a crate so they can smell each other but not harm one another, hope it works out.
