I saw a person called Xintus-1765 saying he uses his smart phone to scan bar codes. Is that something you would have to buy separate and what kind of smart phone would that be for? What part of the phone would you use to scan a barcode? Is it something you have to attach separate? What's the bar code scanning feature on a smart phone about?Microsoft packages actually 2 bar codes... one standard upc for the store and 1 funky colored triangle bar code... I forgot the name of the app, but its on Windows Marketplace.. Sorry, I didnt download it... looks boring... The app uses the smartphones camera. Open the app.... Take a pic of this funky colored bar code in the store while shopping... and the App will tell you everything you wanted to know about the product.... Like is said, its boring and Ill google instead. LOL
To my knowledge, this apps is only on windows marketplace... therefore you need a Windows 6.0+ OS based smartphone. I have seen this app for Andriod or Iphone yet... but known that 10000 apps are made everyday, give it time before its out there. What's the bar code scanning feature on a smart phone about? There are also many different apps for Android phones that can scan bar codes. Some give you product information, some look for prices online or in local stores, some search eBay or Amazon for the item. They are actually very useful if you are a bargain hunter or if you just want to make sure you are getting a good really on a purchase.
