smart: Ive heard about a couple of car thefts in which the thieves stole vehicles equipped with Smart keys. How can u start a car with the push button when there is no no key present in the car. The vehicle has to detect the chip in the key in order 2 start. Does anyone have any knowledge about this? The thieve gets your VIN and calls his buddy at the dealership that is a crook and he will cut the key for your vehicle... On the news several years ago the police in Texas asked the people to place a small index card over the VIN that can be seen through the windshield to stop this because they busted a thief ring at a couple of car dealerships...
