smart: I am doing a project in school on Jack Sparrow and how most viewers see Jack Sparrow as a bumbling idiot. I need to refute that by giving examples of him being smart.What are some examples of Jack Sparrow showing he is actually smart?A prime example is his plan to steal the Interceptor by first faking the theft of the other English ship. He and Turner board the large vessel and kick everyone off, prompting the Interceptor to make pursuit; once the Interceptor pulls up alongside and Norrington's men board, Sparrow and Turner go to the Interceptor. Sparrow also disabled the other ship so they cannot pursue or shoot the Interceptor. Sparrow needed the Interceptor's speed to attempt to catch the Black Pearl.What are some examples of Jack Sparrow showing he is actually smart?When he votes for Elizabeth Swann to be pirate king, while all the other pirates vote for themselves, so that she becomes King and the pirates go to war. He also appears to be an 'idiot' when Barbossa manages to steal his ship from him at the end of the film, but then actually makes a fool of Barbossa by removing the middle, and most important section, of the map that previously led them to Davy Jones's Locker, and will supposedly lead Jack to the 'Fountain of Youth'. He also makes various deals with different people, namely Cutler Beckett and Davy Jones. He also catches Will at throwing bodies off the Black Pearl in order to leave a trail for Cutler Beckett to follow, and talks to him, trying to persuade him to stab the heart of Davy Jones, before giving him the compass so that Beckett can find Shipwreck Cove and throwing him off the ship. Those references are all from the third film, At World's End.
